Accessible ‘eyes free’ interfaces for Mobile

In this talk, Steven JonesGary Readfern-Gray and Bryan Roberts from the Royal National Institute of Blind People (RNIB) discuss the challenges and opportunities for developing the mobile applications that can assist the lives of the blind and the partially sighted.

Royal National Institute of Blind People (RNIB) is the UK’s leading charity offering information, support and advice to around 1.8 million people with sight loss. Our Innovation Unit finds technical, service and business solutions to access to information issues experienced by blind and partially sighted people.

RNIB strategy has been informed by talking to blind and partially sighted people about what their everyday concerns and frustrations are. Time and again people have told us about the difficulties they face in three main areas: Getting to and from the shops; Finding the products you want and knowing what’s available; and Paying for your items.
